AUT Strike and Consequences
The action taken by the AUT in the UK - in not setting and marking examinations - will surely have a profound impact on the future of education there - it will be a "watershed" in relations with students and university management. It now looks like genuine concern by the academics for their students is slowly leading to a breaking of the strike in the days to come.
With increased tuition fees next year and the freedom of management to dismiss strikers or pay what the please to their staff in future - we can expect a very different atmosphere at universities.
What will the future UK university be like?
